I normally use it for 1-2 months and change my mascara when i see that its drying up. should i use it for a longer period or shorter time?

no 2 months is fine. don't use it longer coz u might end up with a eye infection or something.

My Maybelline Mascara lasts about 3 months before it starts to dry out.

Now that's about right.
You must remember that bacteria can get in the mascara and on the brush over time, and if some bacteria gets in you're eyes it can cause serious eye problems.
What you're doing is fine, and hygienic.
People should always remember that make up, and make up bags and brushes can be a breading ground for bacteria, so rather be less stingy, replace you're make up often, and you wont have problems.

You're doing fine with that. That's what I do but I also wear contacts and get a lot of junk on them. Mascara and hair spray are the two most common things that are found on my lenses.
You don't want to keep it for too long because of bacteria build-up. I also pitch mine if I've been sick, just to be on the safe side. (Especially if you get pink eye!)

mascara usually dries up in 3 month so !-2 months is fine. or when you notice that you are running low on it also sometimes it goes faster depending on the number of times you use it.

Mascara shold be replaced every 3 months. That gives you an extra month.

I use mine till it's gone. When it starts drying up I add a little water and plunge the little brush a couple of times to mix it up.
I have heard you should change it every couple of months, but I have never had any problems keeping it longer.

you should have watched the tyra banks episode about makeup. it would make you want new mascara every other week. seriously...it was gross. but about 3 months...i wouldn't keep it longer than that.
