Who do I call or contact? My neighbors are screaming at an infant (9 months)and fighting. The mother has an older child(age 3) by another man that the grandmother on her side has custody of. They fist fight and do drugs out in the open. The baby is always inside alone. I have tried to help by offering to watch the baby. They still don't care.

I'd just move.

Woulden't touch that kind of self righteous meddling in a family situation kind of crap, with a ten foot pole. You just never know if you are doing the right thing or not. Some things, and some situations just can't be fixed it only get's worse. It is too easy to be on the outside looking in.

Do you know how hard it is to get a baby back once it get's taken away? and do you realize that once this child is in the foster care system that their lives are often made worse considering the kids of people they give kids too, are often worse than the parents themselves.

Do what you feel you've got to do to feel important and self righteous. I wouldent... I don't think I should judge and getting involved in something that assumptive, I don't actually see with my own two eyes, is just not my style.

Whatever get's you through the night? Just be real and understand that you may very well save a child OR become the deciding factor to destroy their lives forever.

Makes people like you feel like God doesn't it? Well it shouldn't,

Call Child Protective Services of TN: 1-877-237-0004
http://state.tn.us/youth/cps/

It sounds like there is verbal abuse as well as physical neglect:

Physical Neglect is defined as the failure to provide for a child's physical survival needs to the extent that there is harm or risk of harm to the child's health or safety. This may include, but is not limited to abandonment, lack of supervision, life endangering physical hygiene, lack of adequate nutrition that places the child below the normal growth curve, lack of shelter, lack of medical or dental that results in health threatening conditions, and the inability to meet basic clothing needs of a child. In its most severe form, physical neglect may result in great bodily harm or death.

Emotional Abuse includes verbal assaults, ignoring and indifference or constant family conflict. If a child is degraded enough, the child will begin to live up to the image communicated by the abusing parent or caretaker.

Call the Department of Social Services for your county (or parish).

Although offering to watch their baby was a nice gesture, you would have only been enabling them to further neglect their baby. That household is out of control. I think the baby AND the 3 year old need to be removed from that kind of environment. Please call the Department of Social Services right away.

This makes me so mad. The next time they do drugs "out in the open" call the ploice. You need to report these peices of shite. Also, please call CPS (child protective serives) you can get this number form the phone book or police department. That poor baby is being abused and you're the voice.

look in your phone book under Family Services or Child Protective Services.
Either that, or call the police and they can direct you to the right agency. If you see drug use in the open, the police will want to know.

Local police, the DAs office, Child Services Office (local city or state), or call the local news to investigate

Assuming the county you live in has a division of youth services or something similar, start with them. If it gets too loud and violent, get the cops out there quick, for the baby's sake.

look up human services in your area or social services.
Hell, maybe call the police and get the numbers from them
Please hurry we have had to small children (separate incidents) die in less than a month down here. Please don't take a chance call someone.
Wishing you Luck
