David Boreanaz had previously said (and probably still holds to) that he would not reprise "Angel" except on the big screen (note to David - that's not going to happen), and SMG is doing her own thing these days.

But there were actually three television movies being planned on the Buffy/Angel 'verse, one focussed on Spike (which was the most well-known), but also one about Faith and one about Willow.

Whedon and the studio apparently couldn't come to financial terms, so as of June the movies are no longer being planned.

In recent interviews Whedon and Amy Acker provide more information about the previously planned movies.

I suppose there is always a chance that this can be revisited, but I don't think it is likely.

Questions like these get a lot of answer most of which are hopefull.

But it depends on who has the film Media rights, the owner should be makers/producton company of the original Swanson version of Buffy. Joss Whedon may well have or had the TV rights depending on what sort of contract he had with copyright/media rights owners of Buffy or he could have the ownership of the Buffy brand outright (being the original writer of the screenplay doesn't make you the owner). He could easily make a film using any of the other characters without Buffy, i.e. Angel, Spike, Oz. The chances of a Buffy film "very slim", plus would SMG be available or want to do it. Most of the actors that "made" the characters in the two series have moved on and it might be a different film if they recast, so you might end up being disappointed.

Look at the links regards the rights issues.

Hey, more guys loved that show than you think! But I haven't heard anything about Whedon doing a Buffy movie either... I think they DID get an Emmy for the "Hush" episode.

It would be weird for other people to take the roles of Buffy, Xander, Giles, Willow etc, but it's not impossible to conceive of that happening. I can see studio execs scheming right now, saying they need some fresh, new, edgy young faces to grab the next generation.

Besides, that's what the TV show did! The original Buffy the Vampire Slayer wasn't Sarah Michelle Gellar, it was Kristy Swanson, in the movie with Donald Sutherland and Luke Perry.

Actual size....

Joss Whedon did a Buffy Movie and he next project is DC's Wonder Woman and did say that the Buffy Series was more like a movie than a spinoff but he is making whats supposed to be season 8 of Buffy in his comic book.

Joss Whedon has already made a Buffy movie, that was the first thing he created to do with Buffy. It was created in 1992 and had Kristy Swanson as Buffy Summers. As to a new movie with the recent cast from the series I have no idea, but i'd love to see it if he does.

Ok Answer in short- No there will not be a Buffy Movie.
However there is a Buffy movie, though quite cheesey and no where near as good as the series- also not featuring any of the stars that portray our beloved characters.

To be honest, he did. It starred Kirsty Swanson, who had to play Buffy. OK, a sensible choice, perhaps - but she had to star alongside Donald Sutherland as that librarian/trainer chappie. Despite her best efforts, Sutherland commands the screen when he appears, making Ms Swanson seem like little more than a supporting character, rather than the heroine. It was a movie which looked good on paper, but didn't do so well in the real world. The Buffy series with SMG is far superior, with (usually) excellent choreography. A movie with SMG et all might restore my faith, as I no longer watch TV (sorry Sarah!).

Would Sarah Michelle & David reprise their roles? It wouldn't be any good if someone else played Buffy, Angel, Spike, Giles, Willow, Xander, etc...

No, I don't think there are any plans. I LOVED buffy. I was prolly the only guy I know that loved that show.

That show was great. The acting, writing, direction, plot lines, etc. They deserved an emmy...
