I was sitting beside my good friend during language class. Our classmates who were sitting at the same table as us chose to chat with my friend instead of me. This happened a couple of times before. They do reply me when I talk to them. But why didn't they initiate a conversation with me? I couldn't help but feel really sad and jealous of my friend at the same time. Moreover, whenever I talk to my classmates, I would always try to include my friend. But he ignores me when he's talking to them. This kinda pisses me off. Am I really detestable, or just hopelessly insecure? :(

I had to learn the very same lesson. I was insecure and I guess people could feel it besides I never knew what to say, in the end I always felt left out and ignored.
I realized I had to take responsibility for my own friendships! You have to start participating in conversation even if they didn't ask you a direct question. You have to open your mouth. What's the worst that can happen? If they tease you or don't like what you say then you say toodles and move on.

Does not sound like to me you are insecure, I see where you coming from, it seems you think of other people before you think of yourself, if you friends say few words to you when they talk but don't see it then, I think you friends have a problem or two that they need to work out, might need tell you friends that you don't appreciate them excluding you from the conversation during your class, the guy classmate must have more to say to your friend then he does you which sounds like selfishness to me, He needs a reality check, might need to tell him how you feel, if your friend do not understand you then maybe they aren't good friends. You are not the one with the problem, I don't care what someone will tell you.

You're not insecure but jealous of your friend.
Why don't you start a conversation with them first,be the one who's initiative. If you try to bring you're friend in,it's going to get worse because then they'll ignore you.Start a conversation with your other classmates don't just depend on one person.
