Definitely go to the doctor. You are probably engorged and they may recommend using a pump at first to get the excess milk out. Then you will probably just use it less and less until your mammaries get the hint. Just call the doctors office, tell them what's going on, and they'll probably want to see you. If you can't get in right away, go to your local breastfeeding clinic. Good luck

You may be developing mastitis.

Did you stop gradually over a period of time or all at once? Stopping "cold turkey" would certainly put you at risk of mastitis.

You can use warm compresses to get the milk flowing and try to express enough to make you comfortable if you are engorged. A warm shower may help this too. For swelling or discomfort, a COLD compress is actually more likely to make you feel better.

Take some vitamin C, drink lots of fluids and call your doctor. If it is mastits, you'll most likely need antibiotics.

did you stop all of a sudden? you might be engorged. If you are totally done feeding then the only thing you can do is wrap up kinda snug and wait it out. It is because your body has learned to make enough milk in a certain amount of time. Your body will figure it out though if you do not feed again. But you will probably want to take a warm bath to relax your breasts. You might also want to express a little milk to releave the swelling. Not alot though. but i would call your dr. just to make sure you do not have anything really wrong with you.

Get a appt with your doc. In the mean time try using warm compresses on your breasts. If you have a clogged duct this will help and it will feel good too. I would wet a hand towel with hot water and use that. Hope you get relief fast.

could be a plugged duct too. I had a HUGE bruise on my left one after I stopped breastfeeding and thats what it was. Go see your doctor.
I wished that they just gave you an injection or a pill to dry you up. It's not fair eh?

Good Luck.

My wife is breast feeding our daughter and she uses heating pads to unclog a clogged duct.

Go to the doctor! You may have mastitis or a breast infection. It is better to have things checked out that to be miserable.
