I spent 4 yrs getting to know myself after my last breakup, before I met my b/f.. When I met him, the last thing that I was looking for was a relationship, but we all know how the story goes.. :) Those feelings tend to sneak up on you.. But now that I know "me" better, I don't worry about what might happen in the future, because I know that I do not need him to make me happy...but its nice to have him by my side for now... Do you really think that you have to know that a relationship is going to last forever to be happy in it??

Nobody can predict the future so No you don't need to know that it will last forever and be happy. Just knowing your doing your best in it and it takes work by both of you to make it happy. If you have love, fun, and respect for each other you can make it through most situations that come up but there is always something behind closed door that could be sprung on you and never see it coming that could break you up in the future. But with work, understanding, and don't let others influence you on how to deal with something major you may make it forever. Live with the motto "God brought you to it you can live through it" and maybe you'll be surprised how fast the days grow into years.

Absolutely NOT! I am in a very similiar situation, only with a few more twists. I started seeing my guy after I'd been apart from my boyfriend of over 4 yrs for only a few months. Things were hot and heavy (we'd been friends for years, but the lust was new!) and we wound up getting pregnant after only a couple months. We have now been together for nearly three years and we don't talk of marriage or forever after. We are both happy with where we are and don't need the security of a life-long relationship to feel content. I don't believe there's anything wrong with our life style. Everyone around us says "marriage, marriage, marriage!", but we don't feel that it's necessary. Why change a good thing?

I think that's possibly a more ideal look on relationships than what most people have. Security is an illusion when you're looking for it outside of yourself. Be happy with what you have now and leave it at that, I say.

i say do what makes you happy. when i'm in a relationship i always hope that it will last forever. i don't want to be with someone if i know ahead of time that it won't last. i think that's just a waste of time.

Relation is like ATM, you can not draw funds (happiness) out of it if you do not (deposit} contribute. You must work together to be happy.

No, I don't think so, it's more enjoying living in the moment and the participation on both sides for the companionship. Thanks for asking.
