I mean, if Madeline Albright piped up, I might not agree with her, but I sure would listen because she has a wealth of knowledge and experience on the subject of diplomacy and statecraft. But why do all these movie stars and recording artists think we give a rip about their opinions on anything besides movies and music? To me, their opinion is about as important as my plumber or the checkout girl at WalMart. Any different thoughts?

I wish these idiots like Tom Cruise and Barbara Streisand,, also many more like them,,,

Would keep there Opinions to them-self, but hey...
Usually they make asses of them-self,

While we are at it, why don't they donate to there own charities and quit begging us for money, while they make millions just for speaking on stuff they know nothing about?

Not in the least and its very much a turn off when they go campaigning for a particular candidate. A cause I don't mind so much but a person I figure they are getting paid to do. In general it doesn't seem like most of them have much of an I.Q. so why would I listen to them.

I take celebrity political opinions about as serious as I take Will Ferrell movies. There pretty funny to listen to/watch, but I don't take much away from it.

The sad thing is, a lot of people follow Stars like religious figures and are actually affected by what they say. Some stars are thoughtful, educated people, but some of them are so far out there that they gasp for oxygen!

Then we have the uneducated, uninformed (thank you public schools!) star watching sheep in the national public who just follow them right off a cliff.

Stars have a right to speak their minds, but frankly, I wish they'd do so in private.

Because they have an elevated (in their mind) social status that many people who are not strong and confidant enough to think for themselves can be led into following and believing. To me their opinions mean less than a plumber or bum off the street. They don't live in reality or the real world and are just spouting off rhetoric that they think appeals to the blind masses who are ignorant enough to listen to them.

No at all. Celebrities opinions are no more valid than anyone elses. In some cases, less so because of being sheltered from reality.

Reagan wasn't screaming anti-American phrases. Not to mention he was a Politician and the President of the US.
