With the rising obesity in children today I think it is very beneficial. The parents are obviously not taking the health of their children seriously so someone has to step in and help. It also gives the child a little time away from the vigorous classroom studies.

I used to like P.E. till class 5 my House always won in the relay races .I also won first prize in a Mummy Race in class 5.
After that P.E . became optional and the burden of studies was too much so I did not participate much in School sports Except for Compulsory Drills.

I hated gym as much as anyone you ever met. But I think it's a good idea.
My hatred of it is a product of my own failings.
Physical fitness is important. I wish I had tried harder at it. I still need to!

Absolutely! It gives people a basic idea of how to keep themselves fit. It is up to them to keep in shape, but at least people will have some idea of what to do and how exercise will benefit them.
