Hi there,
the answer, as others have said is- 1.8 x 10^4.
as u have asked the question, i assume u dont know how to do it.....here's the way-
Scientific notation is a way of expressing v.small or very large numbers conveniently on paper, and carrying out calculations more easily.

HOW TO GO ABOUT IT---
remember a simple rule, that in scientific notation, ALL NUMERICAL VALUES EXCEPT 10 have to have only 1place on the left of the decimal. So, when ur given a number to express in scientific notation, count number of digits after the largest place on left (exclude it ) till the decimal. eg- in ur case, i exclude the value on extreme left- '1', and start counting- '8'.....'2'....'0'....'0'....so the count is 4. Put a decimal after 1 and multiply with 10 raised to power 4.

WHY IS THIS HAPPENNING......
this is actually multiplication and division by 10 raised to some power , simultaneously.....eg- in ur case, i can write 18200 as
18200 x 10000
--------
10000

then, it can be written as,
18200 x 10^4
--------
10000
this is equal to-
1.82 x 10^4
hence the answer....
