I agree with Wendy the computer, internet, that allows us to talk to people all over the world. Share ideas and the computer translates for us so there is no longer a language barrier.
The translation machine, and Yahoo.com answers where we can share ideas with other common people around the globe from our class room or bed room computer.
Or she said, "The library where there is free access to computers and the internet even for poor people."

Wow - there are so many great ones! I think the Internet is an incredible invention, followed by ATMS, microwave ovens and automobiles. Cell phones are pretty great too.

Agriculture.
Agriculture was invented by women who wanted more of their children to live to grow up. It was very successful, and now, virtually no agricultural cultures practice infanticide.
Agriculture is the basis of our civilization. Without agriculture, there could be no cities.

I would say the printing press. It brought the world out of the dark ages by enabling communication and the sharing of ideas to the masses. It is the foundation of all that we have today.
