You can do that but the resolution will be very poor. Cos TV is not design to show high resolution. Alternative, you can purchase a TV monitor. With this, you can watch TV as well as connect to computer which required high resolution.

Depends on the TV, the resolutions it is capable of displaying and the connections it has. For instance, if the TV came with a DVI interface, and your computer's video card has a DVI interface, you just need a DVI cable plus a moment spent setting the video card's resolution (assuming Windows, this is a trivial task). If the TV is HD, you will likely connect it to its video source(s) with an HDMI cable for best performance, or component cables. You want to avoid lower quality video sources like S-Video or composite (like you might use for a gaming console). Switching between video sources is usually as simple as clicking on your remote. Higher end units are often very accommodating with multiple HDMI plus DVI plus component plus S-Video plus composite plus fibre optic so that you can connect almost any contemporary piece of hardware (Cable box, computer, DVR/Tivo-like devices, DVD, VCR, gaming consoles, satellite box, home theater, etc.)
