Im a straight mom with a big heart for the gay community. Id love to be involved via support or volunteer work with the gay community and rights groups. I live in the Indianapolis IN area and Im having a hard time finding organizations or groups that need support. Anyone know any good places to start? Im looking for any community centers or groups that need help with events, support, education, volunteer work or just a helping hand. Thanks so much for any feedback.

You can call 211 in your area, they can provide a list of organizations that provide services to the LGBT community.

How about doing Volunteer work with the Damien Center or Indy Thrift For AIDS? Those would be really good places to start. You might also try to reference such Groups through the Marion County Public Library.

On behalf of the g0y section of the GLBT community thank you for that heartfelt offer for support. Your local hospital may be able to help you get in touch with support agencies.
