Depends, look for cloudiness or color change. And the most important, scent change. If it still smells fine, it is fine. It is alcohol base and unless it gets bacteria in it, it will be good for quite a while.

it all depends on what kind of perfume you wear I'm a fan of Chanel and Oscar and I have had the seem bottles on my dress for at least 4 years however when you buy cheap perfume after a couple of months it has a smell of alchol. However, when buying get something with oil based only not tolite suff that does not last longe at all.

Once you open the bottle, I'd say perfume begins to degrade the minute after you initiate the first application. But the usual lifespan for opened perfume before it turns is one year. You can probably push it one more year, however.

Perfume is made from oils. They will not expire.
Toilet water, cologne etc, is a different category of scent products and will fade in time.

Normally any product has a shelf life of 12 months, if it lasts any longer than that you are lucky. If it still smells ok then its ok, you will know if it does smell quite right. Then it's time to get a new one, maybe more expensive than the last one!!! LOL
