The term RIP refers to using software to COPY the music tracks from a music CD onto your computer. Advanced versions of Windows Media Player show a button COPY FROM CD.

Programs like Music Match and WinAmp can also RIP music from CDs.

One advantage of RIPPING Music CDs, is to make the file into a different and more compressed format. MP3 formats are much smaller in size, and almost sound as good (depending on the compression type that you selected). When you use compression, these TUNES will be ready for copying into an MP3 player or iPod.

When you take the music from a store bought album and convert it to mp3 and add it to your collection on your own computer. which i actually do not know if it is illegal or not to do. that is what ripping a cd means. ripping is the exact opposite of burning. The songs will be in the media library most likely of whatever program you used to rip them.

You're probably using Media Player, I suggest against using it. Ripping a CD means to take the audio tracks off of it and convert them to a format usable by a computer. I suggest using FreeRIP, it's free and rips to MP3 format very nicely.

Here's what you do. Do a search or any mp3 or wma files. There you should find the song(s) your program ripped for you. By the way, what program did you use to rip that cd?

"ripped" means they were converted to MP3 files. try doing a computer search for .mp3 files modified today (or whichever day it was that you did this.) that should help you find them. or look through the preferences of the program you used to rip, and find out where the files are stored. good luck!
