I currently have a Z71 Tahoe. That monster chops up gas like crazy!!!! I want to trade it in for another SUV that doesnt waste so much gas. I dont want to go from an SUV to a car, so please dont tell me to get a car. Anyone know of a Small SUV that is good on Gas and is not over $30,000???? Thanks!!!

I love my Ford ESCAPE.It is very agile, nimble and peppy. It has a DOHC V-6 with 200h.p. the seats are firm, the engine is mooth and the automatic shifts like silk.I get, in the CITY 19 mpg and Hwy @ 27-29,depending on the speed limit. The also make a HYBRID version too.I test drove a lot of small suv's and the Escape was my choice. It is not as refind as say,a Mazda Tribute,It's has a big plastic front and rear bumpers, como vinyl and cloth seats.a more "truck-like dash".Mine was a 2002 I got at Car Max for only 9k. If your are serching for a used suv,go to Car Max.

Ok, I have the perfect small SUV for you.The Honda CR-V. Maxed out, with every option, (not that you would, I am just saying) its $25000 or so, and it gets 21/26 MPG. And thats all with 4 wheel drive too!!! And Honda happens to be among the most reliable cars/trucks made. I've owned 3 and they've never let me down. Keep in mind, that you are changing from an V8 to a 4-Cylinder.

Plenty of small SUV's under $30k. Some good mid-size ones as well that don't eat up much gas.

Depends on what you want to do with it... tow, space, etc...

Honda and Toyota make good small SUVs that will match your budget and get very good gas mileage. The Honda CRV or Pilot are my top two picks.

I understand about that Tahoe: Toyota has a promising small SUV, but it probably isn't a 4X4.
Most of those small ones are really station wagons. What about the Jeep Liberty. They are
small and you can have a 4X4 to boot. Same features, smaller engine and body.

Take Damian F's advice, b/c Honda's are the best on gas. In fact they hold up forever. You probably won't have to get another car until you have grandchildren.

I test drove a Rav4 V6 last weekend. Good gas miles, excellant ride, lots of toys, loads of space.

This is an awsome car, and all for 25000. It's got my vote.
