The proper procedure is to smoke a cigarette at the onset of the heart attack, in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, and finally one in the emergency room. You can smoke an extra one if they have to perform CPR (cause they are pushing the precious smoke out of you!). Take care.

You may, but only if you don't care to survive the heart attack;-) It wouldn't be a good idea since you'd likely already be short of breath. As for the ER, most hospitals won't allow you to smoke in the building and it would be especially inadvisable if they're treating you with oxygen. They also won't let you smoke in the ambulance.

Miss Manners advises you to refrain from smoking during the attack. She recommends waiting a respectful 15 minutes AFTER the staff has used the defribulator to light up, and only if you offer a smoke to the fine doctors and nurses who pulled you through.

I would say that smoking a cigarette on the way in to the emergency room would be a much better idea than just sitting here on Yahoo answers! Dork.

You gotta be kidding me. Smoking is what gave you the heart attack in the first place. If you light up, you will starve your heart of clean oxygen and you might land up killing yourself for sure.

Don't even try to light up in the ER. You might get arrested. No smoking allowed in hospitals.

If you are having a heart attack you wont want to smoke...you re too afraid of dying...plus you are in extreme pain, shortness of breathe and pressure on your chest.
and try lighting up in the emergency department!

smoke 'em if you got 'em!

(there may even be some medical benefit, as the intial effect of smoke is to open your lungs and the influx of oxygene into your system during a coronary event certainly can't hurt)

OH PULEEZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you're having a heart attack smoking is the worst possible thing you could do. Well.........I guess ignoring it would be worse.

Why would you waste points on such a stupid question?
