what are some good diets to follow for people trying to lose weight and tone up. I need a free online diet plan to follow

I would recommend the Low GI plan. It's where you eat foods that keep you feeling full-up for longer.

http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/diet/gi_diet.htm

An example of a day's menu on the plan would be...

Breakfast
Bowl of porridge made from traditional oats and skimmed milk and sweetened with a little honey. Plus a pear.

Mid morning
1 pot low-fat fruit yoghurt and a banana.

Lunch
Bowl of lentil soup plus an open tuna sandwich made with 2 slices of wholegrain bread, a thin scrape of low-fat spread and tuna in brine. Plus a handful of cherries.

Mid afternoon
Small pack of low-fat crisps

Dinner
Spaghetti bolognese (made from extra lean minced beef and lots of vegetables) served with wholewheat spaghetti and salad.

But the main key to losing weight is to burn off more calories than you consume, or consume less calories than you burn off. Simple as that! So if people wanna stop at McDonald's and get a pile of white bread (not low GI), fat, salt and sugar (not low GI) then they're gonna have to do some exercise or something to burn it all off!

My friend did really well on Weight Watchers, plus running for 5 miles every day. The weight just dropped off her! Now she just counts points for maintenance.

you should follow a low-carb diet. don't limit your calories, just limit your carbs. online diet plans are hard to come by for free. you could try searching for proteinpower bulletin board -they had a great discussion and support group that was free -in fact an online support group is probably better than a free diet online.

even so, some of the members of the above mentioned group did publish a "protein power in a nutshell" being a precis of the diet plan.

try to get the protein power book -look in chapters.com for example. the authors are a husband and wife doctor team. She is Mary Dan Eades and he is Michael Eades.

Read this book and really understand what is going on with your body by doing so. then read it some more. then use the diet and read the book some more, find the online support group and join in.

by the way there are low carb options with some commericial diet plans such as weightWatchers and JennyCraig.

Okay... my thoughts are clearing up now. I think you should go low carb but you will find the slogging easier to take if you can find an online support group that understands the whole low-carb thing. time to googe for one.

all the best

I agree with pink9364 - the minute i start a diet (which is every monday morning!) all I can think of is food! I doubt there's any free online diet plan - they're all there to make their money someway or another.

I find though when I exercise it kills my cravings for sweets or fatty foods. It's just a waste of time exercising otherwise. Good luck!
