Opryland doesn't exist anymore. LP Field is downtown about 8 miles from the Opry Mills Mall that stands where Opryland once did. The Country Music Hall of Fame isn't free, but it's close to LP field. The arena where the Nashville predators Hockey team plays is 1 mile from LP Field and houses the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, but I'm not sure of admission prices. I'm hardpressed to come up with anything that's totally free, but these are economical solutions for entertainment here in my hometown, Music City, USA!

I am not sure which LaQuinta Inn you are staying at but the stadium is in downtown and Opry Mills and the Grand Ole Opry is on Briley Parkway. About 10 -15 minutes from downtown.
