I heard that one a long time ago and always thought it was an urban myth...

Just a sec, I'm on the beach with my laptop now anyway and have a few alka seltzer's in my case....

okay tossed one up and a huge seagull just grabbed it...

He ate it...

Nothing happening, he's still flying around looking for more... so I guess it was a myth afterall............. wait a sec,

he's flying erratically....
...
Ooops!
:((

It's an urban legend, along with most of the other posts in this thread.

Rats can & do burp.
Sheep stomachs do not explode if they eat clover
Pigeons or seagulls do not explode if they eat alka-seltzer

Seagulls **DO NOT** explode if they eat Alka-Seltzer tablets. That is an urban legend. Check it out here:

Not sure if it works with alka seltzer, but you used to be able to explode a pidgeon with asprin !

Seagulls won't explode, but most small birds do if fed uncooked rice. That is one of the reasons you can't trow rice at weddings anymore. The other is that sue happy people have sued churches becuse they have fallen on the round grains.

Aw, that is really horrible. Poor seagulls, or pigeons or whatever it is.

I've always wondered, was it true that sheeps tummies exploded if they ate clover? As it says in one of Thomas Hardy's books (I forget which one) that that happens.

Sea gulls don't explode when you give them alka-seltzer, any more than humans do.

They may not enjoy eating it, but they certainly won't explode.

Neither will cockroaches.

It sounds very suspicious to me - I know that pigeons explode if you drive over them in your car.

rats....people make rat poison by mixing alka-seltzer into peanutbutter...the rats eat it then expload because they don't have the ability to burp

Pigeons, the flying rats of London also suffer this torment!
