The frictional force between the match's tip i.e. phosphorus and the rough material on the side of the match box it is rubbed against is high and produces heat enough to light the phosphorus head of the match stick...
And any burning substance emits heat..

Combustion is an exothermic reaction. That means that when you burn something it gives off more heat than is used up by the chemical reaction itself. Endothermic reactions are the opposite, they get colder. Like forcing ice to melt with salt.
