Being double jointed doesn't mean you actually have 2 joints in that spot instead of one. It just means that your arms or legs or whatever bend farther than normal people's. My elbow's are "double jointed" and when I extend them, they bend farther down than most other people's.

Being double jointed is actually only a term to describe flexibility. The people don't actually have double the amount of joints in their body, or are heavier as a result of the condition.
