It depends! Its always nice to be given a present but again its nice to give presents if you feel like you are making someone a little bit happier for it!
My ex girlfriend (still good friend) bought me an expensive watch for my birthday (after we broke up) and i really appreciate it as it is a great present but at the same time i feel very guilty because i know she can't really afford it!
It depends on the circumstances behind the giving aswell! If someone gives you something to get thanks or something else then its not a present, its a bribe! I like to give people things to help them and to cheer them up but not because i want anything in return apart from them to be happy!
I don't like giving a present just because its expected as its a birthday or something and i prefer recieving them at other times as there is more thought behind it i think!
So sorry to not give a straight answer to the question but thats because i like both but only if the circumstances are right!

I think it is an individual thing and there is nothing wrong with those that prefer to be given a present. My own preference is to give. Getting presents makes me feel obliged to the person.

I prefer to give a present of something that someone really likes or wants. It's good to see someone happy. I like getting presents but not as much as giving.

I prefer to give a present, I love wrapping them up all nice and pretty and take ages over doing that, just seeing peoples faces when they are given the gift so nicely wrapped is like giving two gifts in one, its always better to give than to receive.

I definitely prefer to give. I come over all unappreciative when I receive presents or I gush too much.
I could probably cope with being presents through the post though as I wouldn't have to face the giver.

I love giving presents to people, and watching as there face lights up. Sometimes it is nice to receive presents as well.

I love giving presents when the person isnt expecting it, like a bunch of flowers for a mate who is in need of cheering up! But then im just a big softie & like putting a smile on someone's face!
