I feel for you. This is a common problem with the women in my family. Get a check up with your doctor she/he might suggest the pill. The pill did not help me - except to gain weight. I have found that regular exercise helps. Also, closely watch your diet - avoid junk food the week before your period. Make sure you eat plenty of veggies and fruits. Taking a multi vitamin supplement along with a magnesium supplement might also help with the cramps. Vitamin E helps with the tenderness. Drink a lot of water and avoid caffeine. Chamomile tea sometimes helps. Pain medication usually does not work for me either even prescription pain killers give little results. I did find an over the counter muscle relaxer called percogesic that helps. Masturbation can also give temporary relief.

I used to have killer periods when I was a teenager. I got on the birth control pill and now I have no cramps whatsoever, and the bleeding is very light and only lasts a couple of days. Or you could go on the depo provera birth control shot. You won't have a period after the first 3 months. Downside of depo: weight gain. I gained at least 20 on depo and it's been a pain trying to get all the pounds off.

Hot bath or heating pad. Also see your doctor, this could be endometriosis, or cysts. Not fun! I used to have them so badly that having a child was actually less painful. After my second child, I had to have a hysterectomy...You never saw someone so jubilant to lose an organ!

Hot Baths. Hot water bottles on your abs.
If you've exhausted other possibilities, you might consider going to an acupuncturist. Works for my gf.

If you get them regularly talk to your doctor. My partner used to get ones that took her out of work. She was prescribed zoloft (for other reasons) but one of the side effects is that it relieves cramps. It is the only thing that has worked for her. The other thing that worked on her back cramps were tennis balls (rolling on them to relieve the cramps).
Good luck
