I started taking birth control at the age of 11 to regulate my period. Which I got a week before my 9th b-day. Although I didnt lose my verginity until I was 14 (and been with the same guy since! 8 years) It can be taken when the girl is ready to. And if your underage and having sex its better to be on something then nothing and have more problems.

i think as soon as a girl is maybe 13 they SHOULD be on birth control just in case. It does have the benefits of reguloating a period and cramps ect but with kids these days it doesnt matter how well you teach them things happen.
I was on birth control at 15. I told my mom that i was considering sex and she told me to mak an appt at planned parenthood. theu are great for young girls because the will educate you on a lot of things. I think thier training is more specialized towards younger girls.

Yes but are they sexually active at 9? I sincerely hope not!! Its never really appropriate for a girl to take birth control. Birth control is supposed to be reserved for women. Not children. The moment that girl becomes sexually active or thinks of becoming sexually active is when to get it. Some girls take it very young because Ortho-Tricyclin helps with acne.
I have a daughter, and I will make sure she is sexually aware and sexually educated in hopes that she won't become sexually active. I think honesty really helps. But if she does, I will be the 1st to take her to the Dr. to get BC. Its either that or I drive her to her OBGYN appointments every month. I will not be a Grandmother this young!

I think by the time they are 15 to 16 they should start using it. But if you believe that the girl might be having sex sooner than that, then defiantly get them started right away. Teen pregnancy is hard, i had my son when i was 17 and it did a number on my body and i had to grow faster than i would have liked to. Number one thing is always talk to your kid, make them feel comfortable to come to you if they are having sex that way you can help them to be safe, from pregnancy, std, and anything else that is out there. Hope this helps.

Whenever she starts her menstruation she is able to take it but all girls are different so I would suggest to trust your own judgement. I was put on Birth Control when I was 3 months shy of 14

I didnt start taking them until I was 16. But, I had asked my mom at 14... she refused to let me go on BC pills at 14... luckily, I didn't get pregnant... I thank my lucky stars for that. At 16, I asked her again and she finally said yes. I think as soon as you become sexually active you should get on birth control. My mom thought that if she let me on birth control pills at 14, I was going to have sex... problem was... I already was but just felt that I couldn't tell her (which yes... I agree, I was too young and was stupid...) so... I just used condoms and pull out method (very rarely) and prayed everytime my period was due for it to come.

well, since birth control pills have to be prescribed by a doctor she would have to have an exam beforehand, and the doctor would let you know if it is safe under a certain age. I don't think that it would be safe to give them to someone at age 12 or under.

Um, I started taking the pill at 17 years old, but everyone is different. The only reason I was on it was bc of painful, disabling cramps. I was not sexually active.

each time she will become lively. Condoms are not continuously one hundred% efficient and if she takes the start administration the way she is assume to and makes use of condoms she would be very secure. Or if she is having issues of her era beforehand she starts having intercourse. Whichever she needs the start administration for. i began out start administration while i replaced into 20, some months when I grew to grow to be sexually lively.

In my opinion taking birth control isn't safe at any age. A young girl should be encouraged not to have sex, and if she does, a condom should be used to protect her from STDs.
