When I went to the vet with my 2 yr old dog she remarked on the beautiful condition of her coat, how well she looked and commented on her good nature.

The vet asked what I feed her on and I was embarressed to say anything but she loves, apples, bannanas, strawberries, cherries, mangos, oranges
greek yogurt, pasta, rice, sardines, salmon, all meats, salami, pitta bread , cat food-but doesn't like tinned dog food!

When we have our meals she looks for hers too.

At night when she feels it's time to go to bed she jumps on my bed and moves the quilt so she is covered and lays her head on my pillow-it's true! During the night if she gets cold she will whine until I let her get under my quilt and then she lays beneath it, pushes up against my legs with her head popping out of the end of the quilt.

I know she is a lovely dog and she doesn't have a weight problem however, is she normal or confused? Does anyone else have a dog that has these human traits and food preferences?

Bless her!! Well, the food certainly isn't doing her any harm and it sounds like she is one of the luckiest, most loved dogs in the world!! Keep it up!

My dog loves croissants, pizza, roast dinners etc etc etc. Whenever we have a roast or a takeaway he has his own little portion. I do feed him proper dog food too though (James Wellbeloved) so the rest is a little treat. He sleeps on my bed, back to back and sometimes wriggles up and puts his head on the pillow.

He always wakes me up by putting his head on the side of the bed and huffing on my face. His is the nicest face in the world to see when you wake up!!!

That's easy, she's spoiled rotten. I don't see that as a bad thing except for your choice of food she get's. Small amounts, ok, but she still needs proper nutrition ( as in good quality dog food) to lead a long and healthy life. Never chocolate, that's poision to dog's. Theres also a number of other human foods that isn't good for her. Make up a list of what you give her and how much at a time . Ask that question on yahoo answers and we'll both learn more. I thought sleeping on the bed was normal , as I have an Olde English Sheep dog and a pushy Rottweiller that shares the bed with me. Sounds like your pup has a good home, bless you.

Alot of people seem to be busting your chops about the dogs diet...there is nothing wrong with feeding your dog 'human' food. Just make sure she is getting all of the nutrients she needs...you can check out the BARF (bones and raw food) diet for good recipies. Most commercial dog food is made with 'pet grade' ingredients...in other words it didnt make the quality cut to be consumed by people. There are a few pet food companies that use 'human grade' ingredients. Some of them are Wysong, Canidae, Wellness, Innova, and Blue Buffalo. I dont personally have the time to prepare the correct natural diet (all the food you are feeding your girl)for my guys...but if I could I would. A natural diet is actually ideal for any animal. As for sleeping in bed with you, she's just smart and enjoys the comforts of being a well loved pet. My mastiff doesnt like it under the covers but he does sleep with his head on the pillow and I also used to have a cat that liked to 'spoon' with me when I went to bed. She liked being under the covers only in the winter.

Dogs will do what they're brought up to do. She believes she's a human because you (by your behaviour, i.e. feeding table scraps and allowing the dog on the bed) told her she IS one!

I don't know about "confused", but so long as she doesn't have any behavioural problems, and you're happy with it, keep doing what you're doing. It sounds like you have a happy, healthy dog. Sometimes allowing a dog to have this much leeway in the home can lead to dominance issues, but apparently you've got it covered.

It's good that you checked with your vet about the unusual food - some things that are tasty and nutritious to us can hurt a dog. I guess you knew about chocolate, but there are others. (This is why we have dogfood, which is guaranteed to be safe and nutritious for dogs.)

My dogs used to sleep like people, under the covers with their head on a pillow. They also used to like to sit in my computer chair and stare at the monitor. And one loved to hop into a full bathtub. They had a lot of human behavior traits.

Mine also loved fruit and veggies along with pasta and olives.

I think some dogs are just like that.

Our 12 year old Jack Russell regularly came to bed with us. She would sleep in between my husband and I, under the duvet, with her head on the pillow. She doesn't do it know as she can't jump up onto the bed and if we pick her up, she can't jump down. She too also eats anything. We do stick to regular dried dog food with a little bit of our food as a treat. Raw carrotts are a good replacement for chews and porridge in the winter a good source of fibre. Don't worry about her. Enjoy her.

It sounds like you take care of her very well. It's normal for dogs to pick up some of our traits and food preferences. They are with us all the time, so it's bound to happen. My sister's dog does the same thing with the pillow. She loves to spoon too! I bet it's great in the wintertime when you need a little heater to cuddle with.

Some dogs can have human traits! My friends dogs both love apples aswell but then again they eat most things!! However, if it isn't affecting you or your dog in any negative way then i don't see any issues! She obviously loves being with you and what more can you want from her? If she is fit and healthy and happy then keep it up! But don't let her start taking advantage you will have to put your foot down one day!

It sound to me that you may be mistaken. You may want to check that this so called "dog" isnt actually a performing monkey escaped from a tortured life in some far away circus. It also sounds very similar to one of those human being thingys that i saw on telly the other week.

My sons dog is the same, we thought it was because they got her at 6 weeks and she thinks she is human. She also plays ball games with the children, skips with them using a skipping rope, and tries to join in with card games. She tried to use the skate board but not successful yet. She wont mix with dogs , she seems timid of them. We talk to her as we do the children , she seems to understand every word. She is a lovely dog, no trouble very obedient and faithful, a good family member.
