I would like to move into the HR field, but even entry-level positions require 3-5 years of experience. How do I get experience if nobody will give me a shot?

Just apply for an IT job at a HR Outsourcing company. There are LOTS of them.

You truly do not enjoy IT at all? Generally, it is more stable than HR. HR tends to get cut when companies are struggling due to the fact they do not need to hire any more employees.

Thats a tough one. I would suggest earning a degree in Human Resources or Personel Management. This will give you the legitimacy to start a new career. Also, be sure to write down all transferrable skills you have learned in IT that can be useful in HR. That may be few...so I think you need at least a certificate or Associates Degree in HR to change your career path. After you earn the degree or certifcate, the best option would to be working with a technical/IT staffing firm to gain experience. That way, you can use your IT experience and HR knowledge to pick and interview the best candidates. The other option is to be hired as an HR assistant and work your way up.

Best of luck on your career change.

Human resources is far more boring than IT. I would use your IT career to save up some money and get into an exciting hobby. If you can't look forward to work, you can help yourself by creating something to look forward to after work.
