This happened at my job recently . I read lots of Manga with adult themes (like blood and violence) and I also like to read vampire novels. There is a table where I've been working most of my shift for the past year and sometimes I stick a book here or there in the drawer till the next day . Well , the supervisor on the earlier shift was looking through the desk drawers for supplies and found my books . We don't have keys because everyone shares the supplies. Anyway , she flips through the book(s) snd gets a heart attack (figuratively speaking) . She considers them "offensive" and tells my manager and I was told it was borderline sexual harrasment , beacuse of the sexual and graphic content . Mind you , on the covers of these books you wouldn't know that unless you actually open the books . Anyway , I didn't get into trouble , I was just told not to bring those books back anymore . If you've ever experienced anything like this please let me know .

Personally, I think it was none of her business - she shouldn't complaing bc she was the one who looked for it and then read it! Some people are so dumb!

Just don't take them to work anymore. If you share supplies then someone was bound to find them eventually. I don't know about the particular books you had, but a few years ago this guy kept bringing in comics that were really disgusting. I was the manager so I had to take care of it. I told him I didn't care what he read on his time, but at work he was on my time! Everyone else that worked there was female and none of us appreciated having to see these magazines at work. Not only that but the DM found one on a check up. I got my rear chewed for it! And the DM was a guy. Just so you know I'm not a prude, I just believe there is a time and place for everything!

I had a very graphic novel on the top of my other school books and my Social Studies teacher asked me DOSE YOUR MOTHER KNOW WHAT YOUR READING???? I said " My mother doesn't have much time for reading so she generally asks me for recommendations."......I was 14. He let it drop. Dose the book you were reading constitute sexual harassment or not? If it offends the supervisor, makes her uncomfortable, sorry, but yes it dose. Sexual harassment is in the eye of the beholder.

Don't care what you read. Instead of leaving the books all over the place, put them in your locker or in a bag by your work station, that way there is less chance of people finding them, unless they are going through your stuff on purpose.

Why I cant say that i have, I agree that it is outragous. People have differnt tastes, and others have to learn accept it. that being said, if you have a privet office or desk, that would be a far better place to store them

keep fighting the man, man

If you're in the states then I can understand your predicament. unfortunately americans are going apesh*t about sexual harassment and political correctness. this is a perfect example.

I'm american but have lived outside the country for 10 years. hopefully this country won't go to those extremes...it's just stoooopid.

You should be able to read your comics. You are not showing them around. no one forced her to look at them.

Well, I guess since it is work, you must take into account everyone's feelings. No one would care what you do in your spare time, but you'd not bring PlayGirl to work, would you? Unfortunately, you'll need to keep these at home or in your car for breaks.

My personal favorite is the woman who complained that a male co-worker had a photograph of himself and HIS WIFE taken while on a recent vacation on his desk.

Meanwhile, she had a 16-month calendar of "chippendale" type men , with captions like "Men are like high-heel shoes... they are easy to walk on, once you get the hang of it" or "Men are like copiers, you need them for reproduction, but thats about it."

guess which had to be removed.

People get upset for no reason. It is best not to keep any personal items in a shared area.

it's an awful situation and the other person should not have looked in your books, but I would just go with the flow and be happy you have a job.
