DRDO means defence research & development organisation ....... it of importance increating our own new indegenious technologies like the LCA light combat aircraft...... and also to some extent in doing the technology transfer when we buy defence equipment like the sukhoi fighter planes along with the design so we can buy the first set of planes and then manufacture the remaining sets IN ORDER to save costs
