I remember, we used phone lines and wrote letters to each other. Times were a little slower then. And we were more patient. I have a mobile now and of course I use a laptop now but I do remember what we did before mobiles and laptops became the 'must have'.

Sat on the front porch and talked to our neighbors! We had "socials", and went to Church to fellowship.

We met at the barber shop, so that we could catch up on the "latest" happenings.

We went to the malt shop, to see the pretty girls and get a date.

We attended dances, and had block parties.

We used old "Ma Bell", to reach out and touch some one, even though, the connection was sometimes bad, and phones only came in one color, black!

We went to our neighbors house and had dinner, and then, we reciprocated and had them in to dinner another night.

Sunday nights, we watched the Ed Sullivan show, and Jackie Gleason show, and Red Skelton, then took our bath, for school the next day.

Those, were the "good old days", and I didnt know they were so good, til now :)

Remember, you dont appreciate what you have, until its gone, and with these days, appreciate it now, so that you can ponder it when you get older too...

I wish you well..

Jesse

Made cave drawings? Struggled with the concept of the reason for our existance? Played chess and other games - some called "parlour games". Built up our society from scratch etc. It's sad that you think your mobile so important by the way

I know :)
I guess we all did good when we didnt have too many options. We just worked hard. Made our notes. Called from land lines.
Had manuals that we documented. There were typewriters.

And life went on normally.

Some 100 years ago not many countries even had electricity or the latest medication for the silliest of problems. I guess they did alright too!

We seemed to have more time on our hands sometime ago. We would write letters and postcards. Call on the phone, there was no answer machine either. We were all more personable w/ others. Not on a limitation of time.

WE got off our fat butts and actually went out and did things in the world. ie we played football and other sports and we had a fun stress free life. At least this is what it was like when i was growing up in the 90's. Great fun with no hassle. If someone wanted you they called your house, if you weren't there then no bloody joy. lol

We just didnt talk as often, didnt make as many calls and you waited to get to your house to make a call. Thats why people are getting fatter and such. A lot less walking to and fro. Before Laptops we just had apple computers and before that we didnt have personal computers.

it seems hard to believe, but we got along fine without them, no problem. the technology of today is getting more and more advanced, we couldnt have imagined that it would have been where it is today. computers that are as big as a notebook? telephones as big as a pack of ciggerettes that you can carry any where? thats sience fiction stuff.

Sex, smoking weed, reading, Dungeons and Dragons, playing the guitar. I've thrown my mobile away, and enjoy the peace and quiet!

Life was slower and less convenient.
The mobile is a mixed blessing, however, as one has to put up with other people's yattering.
