Besides Dookie, American Idiot was my favorite album...their sound was more raw and harder than what they have produced from past albums and it was less "commercialized" as well. Don't get me wrong, I still think that it was written and produced to be sold by the millions (the first half of the album was eventually played on air), but it was the first time I felt Green Day really worked hard on an album and produced something unique.
In regards to their next album; if they continue the same mentality as they did with A. Idiot, I think they will be as successful, if not more. However, just like any follow up to a great album, it will be hard for it to stand out (if that makes any sense).

By the way... Dookie wasn't their first album. There is no reason to be nervous about their next album. They continue to evolve with every one, and they are one of the bands out there right now that actually had talent. The music industry is pretty much dead. All anyone is really interested in producing is pop bullshit that all sounds the same. As long as it is different than what is out now... Rock on.

I have been an Fan of green day since the American idiot era but i love their earlier work but i am not really nervous because well they are great guys and their music rocks. American idiot did really well got them loads of awards. I don't think they will do another shenanigans but i like shenanigans. They are the best band on the planet and their music will always rock.
Green day rock!

No there is still so much room for Green Day.And so you know Dookie went 10x platinum and the American Idiot only went 2x platinum.

Im no longer positive about which album, yet im deffo positive that's from their older stuff. as a lot as i respect eco-friendly Day, i'm able to't look to get into this new album. do not get me incorrect i hearken to the peculiar song, yet as an album, no longer overly prepared! putting forward this, i can not wait to work out them in October!! i hvae been following green day since their club days in LA , when they used to do shows with bands like Tex and The Horseheads ............
the new album will be more commercial than any of the previous ones...............
even though the band has progressed and grown so much since the beginning .............many of their original fans will be turned off , and call them even bigger sellouts than they already do ...........
in my opinion they have matured musically as a band ............the new album will rock...............and people need to be more open minded to different styles and genres of music .............
best regards !
