I'd say the cheapest that look good, feel good and last the longest.
I have some that I don't even know the brand for £16.
They look okay are really comfy and are hard wearing.

Fashions change. But I used to love these Ellesse gum rubber soles I used to have, and my nike classics, the skinny fit ones.
