yes,, i own a repair shop,,in Tennessee,,and there are a lot of advantages to synthetic oil..it out last regular oil,,it doesn't get hot,,and break down like regular oil does,,also you can go up to 7500 miles on a single oil change,on it,,and hey recommend doing this,,it does cost more,,but it will help,,any engine last longer,,no matter what it is,,i run it in my lawn mower,,and i only have to change it every 2 years,,i have over 200 steady customers,,and they all have switched over to it because it is better for there vehicles,,and these days we need to make a car last as long as possible,, i know i do,,i cant afford a new one every 2 or 3 years if you decide to switch to it,,id go with the brand ,,Mobil One,,its the best i have used yet,,and i have tried a lot of them,,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s.

May not be a good idea. I've read that changing to syn oil in an older car may result in oil leaks because the syn oil is less viscus and may seep thru the older, dryer gaskets.

Why would you waste the money for synthetic oil when you have an engine this old? I don't see any advantage as far as wear protection for this age engine.

I wouldn't do it at this point. It has excellent cleaning properties and can cause leaks at seals.

Besides, you've done fine without it.
