We are a country comprised of many cultures and perspectives, so why is it that Church and State remain "married" in law; yet we claim the separation of the two.

**by the way I am a Christian, so this is no way an attack on the Christian faith**

It's becoming a theocracy. These are recent changes. The founders wanted separation of church and state, with free exercise of religion.

This is a good book, and you might want to read the Amazon book review. Here's a quote, and the link is below.

"The GOP has been transformed into "the first religious party in U.S. history," Phillips argues, and it is ushering in an "American Disenlightenment" that rejects the separation of church and state and ignores the teachings of science."

I believe the two have been separated a great deal. Is this good? I don't think so. This country was founded on Christian beliefs. Since this country was founded I believe moral, especially in our young ones have diminished a great deal, since prayer has been removed from our schools. Yet prayer is not a practice that belongs to Christianity alone, it was still removed for the atheists.

Separation of church and state means that the country will not be ran by one religion, but that all are free to practice any religion. Back then, for example the Spaniards and French, was a Catholic government. That wasn't to be so here. Some how the idea of separation of church and state has been twisted and misinterpreted by the atheist and they are winning the battle of having any sort of belief out of our schools and courthouses.

"Founded on Christian values" has different meanings to different people. Does it mean that our Constitution is based on Christian principles or only that the majority of the founding fathers were Christian? A person could debate whether the Constitution is Christian, since it does not mention Jesus Christ. It could be argued that the first amendment (the free speech amendment) is not really 'biblical' because it allows certain forms of speech that the Bible condemns....gossip, blasphemy, rash judgment, boasting, bragging, tale-bearing, name-calling....all are protected by the first amendment. Our federal constitution is religion neutral, based on the first amendment, which states that Congress "shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion." However, from what I understand, this only applies to the federal government; the constitution is silent as whether state governments can establish their own religions.

PS - THEY ARE JUDEO-CHRISTIAN VALUES!

I grew up Christian, but I always knew the Bible is Judeo-Christian and I find anyone who calls them "Christian" values to be incredibly ignorant about both the values and the history of their religion.

Because the Bible tells us there is only one God and Christ.
The founders were Christians.
Christian values superseded any other religion's values. Because
It is the only religion that is real.
No other religion has a savior. Christ's time on earth is to well documented. He was here, and he did die for our sins.
