Google offers the best and most effective image filter of any search engine.
http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en
Go to this link and turn the filter on to it's highest level. A re-search for images under "girls" returns much better results, there should be no nudity and only a few swimsuit/underwear pictures.
Yahoo, unfortunately, gets blown out of the water when it comes to explict image filtering. After turning up the SafeSearch feature to the highest level there was no improvement of search results. Still it doesn't hurt to try:
http://search.yahoo.com/preferences/preferences?pref_done=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fimages
So keep him off Yahoo! and use Google, the undisputed god and overlord of all search engines.
Frankly, no matter what precautions you take, there's really no way to gaurentee your son won't be able to find porn online. Sooner or later, whether he tries too or not, he's going to find it. It's much more important that you talk to him about why he should not look at pornography, instead of just setting up barriers for him to work around. And trust me they can be worked around. Even if you can block everything what are you going to do if he goes to a friend's house and sees inappropriate stuff?
Turn up all the filter controls, buy Norton if really want to, but remember none of these will substitute for actually talking with your son about why that matterial is inapprpriate!

Look at the free Naomi Filter http://www.radiance.m6.net/ You will want to download 2 parts. 1) The main filter download is NAOMI. 2) Also download the ImageSearch plugin. This filter is password protected and cannot be disabled or uninstalld without the password, protects all browsers, will block inappropriate image searches, and can be disabled/enabled as needed simply by entering your password. I use it myself and it is awsome.

Default yahoo or google image search has filtering of adult content. You can edit settings in preferences. Don't save your id on your computer (Uncheck remember my id on this computer ) . Clear internet cache deleting temporary files, cookies. Try Norton internet security (includes Parental control).
