The business owner is in the habit of creating the impression that there are personal problems between the personnel and that he is the good guy who wants everybody to happy whereas he is interested in ensuring that there is always suspecion among the staff believing that that would make it difficult for the staff to jointly confront him on any common interest. on my part i understand the game and try hard not to allow his attitude dictate my relationship with other staff especially in issues that concern getting the job done. unfortunately not all the other staff understands hence they tend to overreact thereby creating the kind of circumstance the boss wants.

Ick. Sounds like a master manipulator. There's a reason for the button/bumpersticker: "All bosses are schmucks."

How best to work with him? By doing what's expected of you, avoiding confrontation, and minimizing contact.

How about looking around? Have you posted your resume anywhere yet?

Take a few moments alone, and close your eyes, and breathe deeply and slowly... and then ask yourself this question:

What is the reason I am doing what I am doing? Bottom line answer is Karma. That is, you have some unfinished business to work out with those with whom you come into contact each day... including your boss. Although it appears real, and serious stuff you are going through.... it is only what has to happen in this time in your life. Do not take it personally. Easy advice, I know, and hard to follow.

But, do the closing of eyes business every evening, and remain still until you experience yourself relaxing, and able to concentrate on the subtle difference between reality [peace within yourself] and the illusory activity outside yourself. Peace & good luck.

"Hi D'GEGE.
Its obvious, by how and what you write that your not controlled by this manipulative business owner, but you have issues with the boss and peers that don't quite possess your perceptive abilities.
I really don't know how to change things unless you'll consider looking for other work. Other work seems like a cop-out, but, it is just one of a few alternatives you'll always have."

You pretty much answered your own question. You seem to be handling it the best way- just do your job right, be aware of what is going on , but don't engage in the paranoid behavior. When you do what you know is right then you have nothing to worry about. It can be annoying to be around others who don't handle it well, but you will find that anywhere you fo .

That's how he/she maintains control. You see you this person somehow learned that he/she can go wHole Nasty Doggy in manipulating people in various ways...you can use Love, Allegiance, Fear. Prostitutes use "Love", Governments use "Allegiance", and voo doo (vau dau) priestesses use "Fear".

People who do this are not nice..and you need to distance yourself from this bastard/Biest.

If they were working with credentials, they would be locked up.

If it's you? You need to look at other ways to excel as a manager via taking Management courses. You would do very well.

Regards,
Mister
