Most computers will search the floppy drive, then the cd drive before going to the hard drive to boot. if you have a floppy in the floppy drive it will keep trying to boot from there. Usually it will ignore a cd in the cd drive unless that disc has an operating system on it. If you have already checked the first two drives, and you are still having problems, maybe the ribon cable to your hard drive is loose, or the power to your hard drive is loose, either one will cause you to get a error message similair to the one your getting.
Hope this helps

Could of possibilities assuming you've checked all your drives for CDs or diskettes:

1) CD-Rom or diskette drive driver is not working correctly and needs to be replaced . . . it is providing incorrect communications with your operating system
2) The boot sector on your primary hard drive is corrupted, download a boot diskette for your hard drive and run diagnostics for I/O errors or bad sectors . . . you could also try booting to 'last good configuration' mode or 'safe' mode . . . varies by computer but is usually a PF key on boot
3) If you were in the middle of a software install, then the software may have inserted a step prior to your boot to check for the software disk . . . if you can't shut down soft, then hold the power button on your computer to power down . . or force it to power down by removing any power source . . .cord or battery

You may have a floppy disk in, remove it and click any key.

Does this happen at start up? If it's not happening at start-up, maybe you should restart and see if the problem still exists.
