watching Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer and they broke in with the news as it was happening I saw it unfold. What a horrifying morning it was. Something you just don't forget. I remember where I was when 3 other tragic days occured in our history. JFK's assassination, Bobby's assassination and Martin Luther King's assassination.

I was on a beach on a beautiful day in Devon. It was glorious. I got a text message on my mobile from a friend. All it said was 'Turn on the television NOW.' Not being home, we went past the beach warden to get an ice cream. He was listening to a radio. He said "I can't believe it. Someone has just flown a jet liner into the side of the World Trade Centre in New York. It's burning." He looked shocked.
Neither my friend or I could stay enjoying ourselves at the beach on that beautiful day. When we got home...well those dreadful pictures. Then we watched as the second aeroplane hit... There really are no words that can sum up how we both felt watching this unfolding horror. A terrible, terrible day.

I live in Portugal. On the 9/11 I was in a cafeteria, waiting for a nearby shop to open. It was about 14.45 and there was a lot of noise there. I took a glance at the television and at first it seemed like they were showing some movie, but the images where a bit strange. I became curious and approached the TV set. Then I saw it: LIVE FOOTAGE! I was absolutely shocked!

At work in Toronto Canada. The word went around our office that a plane struck the world trade center. I immediately thought that it was just a little private plane, or something along those lines. It didn't even enter my mind that it would be an airliner full of people.

I remember tying to get on to news sites like CNN.com to find out what was happening and I guess due to volume, not being able to get the page to load. I seemed like a long time before I was able to find news on the events but I'm sure it wasn't. I remember seeing it on T.V. that day a lunch in a restaurant. It all seemed so unreal, so hard to comprehend that it was real. Such as sad time.

(I was in Springfield, MO --- pretty far from everything):
I saw a bunch of people gathered around the campus coffee shop TV watching the news very intently. I asked the counter guy what was going on and he said that it must be a class whose television had broken.

I got my coffee and went to Algebra.
Everyone was sort of whispering about "some idiot flew a plane into a really tall building in NY"... the teacher came in, collected our homework, and told us to go home to our families and watch television.

I didn't see what the big deal was, so I went to the gym so I could atleast get a work out in while watching television!!

I watched the news... in shock. I didn't even know what the Twin Towers were, except that apparently they were in NYC and really big tall buildings. Alot of people had never been on an airplane before, and didn't really grasp how BIG airline planes are!

When the second plane hit... everyone spontaneously packed up their gym bags and left (most on cell phones, calling family). At that point it was "real".

I was watching the Today Show and Katie and Matt had a report that possibly a small plane had hit the World Trade Center. Boy, was that an understatement. The today Show got a shot of the WTC and then we saw the other plane hit. I also remember watching live as the first building fell but I did not or did not want to believe my eyes. It did not seem possible. I was glued to the TV all day. A horrible day.

I was on my way to work, when i heard it on my radio, and lived 1 hr from the Pentagon. I have friends that were working in the Pentagon, and was just in a panic. I found out later through the day, they had just stepped out, right before the plane hit. Wherever you were, it is a time no one will ever forget.....God Bless the 9/11 familys, friends, co-workers, firefighters, rescue, Dr's, & Mayor Guilliani, and President Bush, just so many to think of...but everyone this tragic horrific act of terrorism affected. We are strong and we are coming back!!!!!!!

At that time I was working in Calella (Spain) doing evening-work, so I've been sleeping all day long untill I had to go to work.
I had to work from 20:00 hrs on and I went early to get a cup of coffee first, when everybody at work was talking about plains diving into the WTC.
I didn't wanna believe it untill I saw the 8 o'clock news.
What a shock...

I was asleep in a stoned stupor. I remember that as soon as I understood what was going on I was having to argue with people who advocating the whole sale firey destruction of the civilian population of Afganistan and Saudi Arabia. Why is it that so many people's first instinct is vengeance rather than compasion?
