10% luck
40% hard work
50% connection
For me, everything is hard to start at the beginning, it really needs a lot of hard work. Then, if you are willing to step out the first step, the second step is a lot more easier. The difficulty is some people have failed even they first step haven't finished. I don't really believe in luck. I believe that if you are willing to work hard. Lucks will come on the way.

Some say that hard work geared to the right goal is what makes your luck. Connections can sometimes help you get a foot in the door, but it will still be your hard work that leads to success.
The formula is different for each of us.

I am on job number 3 in my life in the 20 years since I graduated from college.
Connections do NOT matter.
Ambition DOES matter.
If you present yourself well, you will be hired.
I have literally applied for jobs that did not exist. My second job I applied for at a company that had recently downsized. The business manager that I had interviewed with was so impressed with my ENTHUSIASM to work for the company, that he arranged a meeting with the President of the company. Afterward, they both agreed that they needed to CREATE a position for me so that I did not go to work for the competition.

that's been my experiences. With that said, my connections knew I was a good worker... so we might have to bump that percentage of hard work up a bit
