Because I learn as well as pass on information to others.
The best bit is that unlike a chat room you don't get to close to other and have them invading your space.
Not all questions and answers are up my street so you don't go there.
When you give a best answer you get a buzz.

I had a serious accident a good few years ago so I can't work, everyone I know does work and it gets a bit lonely and boring been on your own so much during the day, so I come on here to keep the old grey cells from seizing up and going stir crazy, I love some of the questions and answers on here, some are really funny and make the day feel brighter, some are serious and if I can help I will, you pick lots of tips up on here too, a great source of information all round and just good fun too.

Well first of all I'm in Iraq and was fortunate enough to get a desk job. So I have plenty of time to look at all these funny and informative questions. I've learned about a lot of things I never would of known about on Yahoo! Answers.

It's a fun distraction when you've got little else to do. Occasionally you can help someone who has a genuine dilemma or just wants some advice. It's also a medium that promotes a better understanding among people trying to understand others and the many problems in the world. While you obviously get a minority who, for some reason, see it as a means to abuse people, they are easily identified by their questions and just as easily ignored.

Not only does it help to pass the time at work but I learn things too. I also help others to learn when I post something informational. Not to mention the best part is you can meet people that are interested in the same things as you.

Its is simple. It's fun and you can see and answer a full range and diverse topics. It is aslo a mecca for information. I bet there are questions on these pages that you wanted to ask but were afraid too, for the sake of looking stupid. I know I have seen questions on here I needed answering.
