I have a mac g5 computer, usually if i fill a dvd project to its full capacity( 120 minutes), and burn it..it takes something like 3 hours to burn. My DVD burner in the G5( as it came shipped) is
SONY DVD RW DW-U10A. And when i burn in toast, the fasted speed of burning i can get with this is 4X.
But 3 hours for a simple DVD is too much to wait. anyway to make it faster? Toast burns VOB files really fast, like a whole dvd of VOB files only would burn in less than 5 minutes. But i dont have VOBs, i have MOV and mp4 so it needs encoding, while VOBs are already encoded so they don't need alot of time. What to do?
I'm in mac os x 10.4.6

DVD encoding is a cpu consuming and time consuming process. What you can do possibly to make your system faster is add RAM, and quit all other apps while compressing. Another thing you might want to do is check your compression settings. If you have 2-pass enabled, then it has to go through your video twice, and will therefore take twice as long. If you're making multiple copies, the thing to do is to make a disk image on your hard drive and use Toast or Disk Utility to burn it from there. Burn time will be less than 10 min. then after the initial build.

Are you attempting to get this to play in an familiar DVD participant, or basically on a laptop? in case you basically favor to play it on a laptop, it truly is straightforward. basically create a knowledge disc with although software you're presently utilising. basically comprise the records you've on the disc and your laptop can use it. in case you want to lead them to playable on a DVD, there's a script for Linux referred to as "tovid" that makes this fantastically straightforward. i don't know if there's a port of this to homestead windows yet.
