Yeah, all I need to know is that if I get/have the Sims 2 for the computer (PC, whatever) will I be able to make my Sim(s) interact with other, real live, people that also play? Or is that just for TSO (The Sims Online) or what?

that's just the sims online. but maybe they'll come out with that as an expansion someday. you could always talk to other players about the sims2, thats almost as good, right? =p

(you have to register a sims game to make an account to talk on the forums =]) http://thesims2.ea.com/community/bbs/index.php?pid=Community_bbs

As far as I know, Sims Online only provide that, which is Sims 1 style. EA Games didn't make Sims 2 online. But that would be fun!
But, if you want to have more info and join Sims 2 communities with other players, here:

No there isn't any kind of outside interactions like that. But as someone else said there are a lot of communities out there where you can talk to other players. The one I actually prefer is http://www.sims2community.com The official BBS is kind of a joke anymore...

That would be fun, but it is just for the Sims Online.
