You must tell 25 of your classmates that the trip has been cancelled and that they have lost their $100 deposit. How will you convey the information and still uphold their goodwill toward you?
any ideas how to start this letter would be greatly appregiated

start it with great regret I inform you . After that just be honest and forth right and i am sure that they will appreciate it.

Wow. That's pretty rough.

I'd make sure you have the reciepts for the bus tickets (or the tickets themselves) on hand because you're bound to be accused, if not outright, then behind your back, of pocketting the money. People get funny about losing large sums like a hundred bucks.

Be honest and frank about what happened, and apologize for the inconveniance. I'd also make sure you have a friend or two read it before it's sent out, just to make sure it reads professionally.
