All I know is in the 60's he was in the military in Honolulu, Hawaii. There he met my mother. They fell in love and he asked for her hand in marriage before he had to leave for duty in the US mainland. My mothers family did not like him, because he was of another ethnicity. They kept them from getting married and forbid my Mom from ever seeing him again. She finally got a chance to secretly meet him and they spent their last moment together before he left for his next military assignment in the US mainland. They never saw each other again after that. I am now 39yo and I just recently found this out. All I have on him is his last name. I have been lied to all my life regarding who my "real" Dad is. I just want to meet him and I want him to know that I exist and that he has a son from the woman he was in love with and wanted to marry...my Mom.

Is your mother still alive? She would be the best option.... and if you can, ask your mothers parents.

I helped my husband find his biological father three years ago. We got the name from his mother and I looked it up on 411.com. But, the situation was completely different and his father basically wants nothing to do with him (it was a one night stand with his mother...). Best of luck to you though.

Start off with the Military Archive...they should help you out a bit, as long as his last name isn't too common...
