isn't the point of using paypal when purchasing items from ebay, not only to make sure your payment is safe, but also to allow the payment to be made instantly? I purchased a phone and paid through paypal. The seller is still holding onto the phone until the payment is cleared... it's instant! As soon as it's in her paypal account, it's cleared... right? I think she's waiting for it to be in her bank account, but surely there's no need? No other ebayer has ever done that to me!

I'd like to think she is just being extra cautious, but I want my phone! My account is verified, but I'm not sure if hers is. In my paypal account it says that the payment has been completed... meaning she has accepted the payment in her account. I e-mailed her and she said 'I'm waiting for the payment to clear, I'm sure you understand' !!! I'll get in touch with paypal about it.

With my paypal account I have to manually transfer the money to my bank account. It costs a coupla quid (i think) if it's less than £50, but any more than £50 transfered from paypal to your personal bank in one go is free.
There is NO NEED for her to wait for payment to clear!
That's my take on the matter anyway, whenever I sold stuff the payment has gone into my paypal account instantly.

It actually takes between 5 and 7 days for the funds to clear, even after they are deposited into your pay-pal account.
I was caught out this week, when my £165 from a seller was taken back from my pay pal account on the same day, as the buyer (or so called!), has some kind of scam going. She retracted the payment, and the goods were posted off!
So although you want your phone, and the money may have been taken from your paypal account, it is in fact just "pending" for 5-7 days.
However, papyal don't tell you this, and I wish I had known this before I posted my goods and got scammed.
I am sure you will get your phone, but I would be more aware of paypal.

No payment is instantaneous. Even paying cash into your own bank account takes a few days to clear!
Paypal works through your card provider (e.g. your bank) pays paypal. paypal then pays the person you are paying. The money then has to be transferred from paypal to her bank account. At both stages you have to wait for the money to clear, and so the seller hasn't actually got the money in her bank account until a few days after you pay.
It's unlikely that the money won't get into her bank account eventually, but I think it is possible (e.g. you could be someone using a stolen card, and the card and all payments get cancelled), and so she wants to make sure she gets her money before parting with the goods.

Once you make the payment, PayPal should have it in the sellers account right away. Unless the account PayPal is linked to is having a problem. As long as you have funds, it should be there right away.
Did you contact the seller yet? Contact the seller and ask what the hold up is.

Around the net you can find many ways of earning extra money by doing simple things like taking surveys or reviewing products. Your opinion as a consumer is very important for big companies that need to understand their customer needs before investing on new projects or launching new products on the market.
On this site http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=555 you can find many real opportunities to earn an extra income this way. I'm really doing a few hundreds bucks a month effortlessly. It's not a life changing income but it's worth it.

Be REALLY careful about adding a credit card account number when you think you already had. Lots of scams regarding PayPal. Not PayPal in particular but emails pretending to be PayPal, asking for your updated information, namely you credit card info.

I have done instant bank transfers and it take 2 days for the money to be removed from my account, and if I use a credit card it can take longer. Is she new to ebay? If it is showing in her paypal account then the money is there. Hope it all works out.

Is it the first time you've used paypal? I remember it took a while for my account to be "verified" the first time I used it. Maybe the seller is using paypal for the first time.
You can ask a question in paypal customer service area if you want to know more.

I have never heard of that either. I am addicted to Ebay, even more so than here and the people I buy from always send me thank-yous for my prompt payments. I have never, ever had one do what your seller is doing. Possibly you could contact pay-pal and see what they say?
