I am currently 5 weeks pregnant and I have a 30 month old. My back pain is awful from lifting my toddler. Is there anything made to protect your back or anything I can do do help with this? It is very bad.

Stop lifting him! If he's nearly 3 years old, chances are he can do a lot by himself...climb into his car seat, climb into his chair at the dining room table, climb into his toddler bed, etc. Try to let him do as much as he can himself. Is he potty trained? If not, don't lift him onto the changing table...just kneel on the floor and change him down there. When it's time for his bath, let him climb into the tub by himself (but hold his hand!) and also let him climb out himself.

As for helping your back, I imagine if you're going to continue to lift him, you could buy a back brace of some kind. However, if you're only 5 weeks pregnant, you shouldn't be doing ANY heavy lifting--back brace or not. It could cause you to miscarry. You should ask your OB for his/her advice or opinion.

Make sure you squat and lift with your legs instead of bending over to pick up your toddler.

On websites, they say that this would be the perfect time to have your child walk everywhere and for you not to pick him up... but... I say its your child.. and OF COURSE you are going to wanna pick him up... just be cautious as you get further along and use your legs to lift.. not back... hope this works...
