I've never really thought about it.....cats spring to mind because I have them and love them, and I think they have a great lifestyle. Plus they're so limber and flexible and soft and furry and sensual....

But I'm not sure. Can you recommend any exercises that help you figure it out?

I did this test, and it came up with monkey. At the second website, my answer was bears or cats. I guess I need to keep working on it.

I have an affinity for the cat family, but I don't think I can claim a cat for my totem. I really don't know how to determine which animal is my totem.
The reason I love cats is their physical agility, their beauty, their ability to be dependent and independent all at the same time, their sensousness, their ability to relax, their accuracy. I just love 'em.

Totem is an anglicized version of the be conscious 'odoodem'.....it skill prolonged kinfolk. It has no longer something to do with the nonsense new-age seen animal spirit classes. they have not any place in community spirituality. this is an insult, whilst human beings use totem for such an outline.

I have always been fascinated with the snake. I don't want to be a herpetologist or anything. I love how they move and act. I love there symbolism in religion. I don't know what my totems are but if I were to guess. I think snake, spider, whale would be three. I don't about the other six though.

I'll try not to go too much into this :) My life totem is Black Bear though. I believe throughout our lives we have many totems at many different times. All for different lessons. :)

My totem came to me in a recurring dream. She's a great American Brown Bear Cub. I also have animal fetishes which choose me-at the moment, turtle, wolf, elephant and griffon.

Great question. My animal totem is the Great Blue Heron. The Heron is known as the great teacher and myself, a perpetual student. When I see him flying by it is a reminder that I have lessons left to learn.

A Horse. They have always sought me out from the time I was a tiny girl. Our neighbors horse used to get away and trot down the road to find me! If I was inside she would wait outside the door.
I used to have to ride her {bareback} to her home. I've ridden at resorts and guest ranches and taken some lessons. The horses are always well behaved for me. They like to come up to me and nuzzle my arms and head. Horses can sense fear and tension. I'm calm and soft-spoken so I put them at ease. Also, I'm a vegetarian so I have no scent of meat or "death" on me.

Your question is an interesting one. Gets one thinking.
Actually, the answer seems to be more instinctive than thought-out.

The dragon of course. I was born in the year of the dragon and it is a symbol that shown up all my life in one form or another. I sometimes feel it is too much to be a coincidence. I can also identify with the two views of the dragon. The West is fearful and a lot people have been afraid of me because I like to wear black and do not speak to a lot of people. The East reveres the dragon the people who actually know me like and respect me(I think).
