Has anyone from the US seen the movie World Trade Centre? I dont plan to watch it when it comes out in the UK as I thinkk its a bit too soon for a film to be made of that traggic day but I was just wondering what your reactions were towards it?

Thanks to all who answered. I feel for all of you. I actually remember what I was doing when it all happened. I was shopping in Newcastle (England) and saw it on tv in centre of street. I actually cried.
Why does anyone need to watch something that you saw live and want to forget?

I think I am with most of the people answering this one. I was at home when it happened and had turned the television on right after the first plane hit and sat through the whole thing. I live in Michigan and have family and friends in Pennsylvania, so I went crazy trying to get ahold of them before they released the actual site of the crash there. I really don't think I want to watch a movie about it, unless the movie producers or actors said some of the money brought in from the movie would go to a fund to help the families.

I don't know what authority - other than public opinion - decides when it's "too soon" to fictionalize a tragedy.
Sometimes we need to see others perspectives in order to understand our own.
And I don't think any of us...particularly here in New York...have completely processed our reactions to what happened that day. Some of us never will. But perhaps we need to accept the fact that this shared horror WILL be reflected in popular culture for a very long time to come.
I watched the film. I choose to see. I struggle to understand, hoping that even though my head will never be able to fully grasp the machinations of evil that brought us to that day, my heart...someday...will.

Well it is said it is too soon but the critics say that is how they felt untill they saw it. It has REALLY good rateings but I myself probably won't watch it atleast till its out on tape!
Also the moral in the US over the war is going down people are starting to get over it you can say in a way. So I think the movie will be a reminder of why we are at war and rally america's moral a little so that may be some reasoning behind the early release!!

Personally. I don't have any plans to see this movie, but the families of some of the victims saw it and gave it the green light. So if the families of the people who died on that day says it's ok. Then it's ok with me. I can't it's just to soon for me, personally!!

I personally havent seen it, but I wouldnt mind. That may seem horrific, but if you think about it, they were making movies about Pearl Harbor a couple of years after it happened... I think it is a way for people to look at what happened, and embrace it... Yes it happened, and now we are going to be a stronger nation because of it... We dont forget, and we dont belittle it, we embrace it and say, "Yes, this happened to us, and yes we lost families and countless lives, but we are a nation that has learned to come together in the face of adversity. We are America..."

I agree. I will not be watching it either. I wonder where the profits of this film will be going? I feel it is disrespectful.
