My doc says my numbers (dont know exact) are the same as going to war with 3000 soldiers when you should have 30000. He said that is possible I have post viral fatigue. If anyone can shed any light on this i'd be very grateful. x

As you can imagine it is difficult to assess a "very low" white cell count without knowing the actual numbers. Rather than how many white cells are floating about day-to-day you need to know whether your body can rally for an infection if necessary. If there is no reason that your white cells are depressed than it may be an incidental variant. See the article below with the understanding that sometimes this can happen for no particular reason and it does not necessarily make you more vunerable to serious infection.

I agree with the respondent above who suggested you discuss it with your surgeon...nobody wants you to have a bad outcome. If you are not satisfied with his/her answer discuss it with your primary doctor.

Occasionally a procedure is so necessary (surgery) that taking smaller risks (like a low blood count) would be acceptable because of the much larger risk of NOT having the surgery.

I get the sense that you are making a large deal out of not very much. I fail to see the source of your "suffering" from the low white count. In fact if someone didn't mention it to you, would have ever known?

It is as it is. Your physician has suggested that your white count - that which fights bacteria may be depressed after having had a virus...it sometimes happens. If he/she was suggesting "post viral syndrome" then you are healthy...other than your anxiety...go have your surgery. Worry about global nuclear proliferation or something.

Good luck.

It could just mean that you've recently beaten off an infection and thats why they are low.
They may just repeat the blood test to see if there are any improvements.

Any reputable surgeon won't do surgery if there is anything that might compromise the outcome. Discuss with him/her.
