I'm connected to the Wireless network at my college, and I entered my password, etc...my question is: will they be able to see where I've been (history) and can they get passwords?

It depends on the systems guy running it. Find out who is running the system - if it's a babe - you may have a chance - buy her lunch... Some systems are off the shelf and the people running them are clueless. Some systems check every bloody keystroke...

Technology and the law work together to guarantee you that you have no privacy on those networks. They can (and almost certainly will) monitor anything that you do.

If you go to SSL sites (sites which start with https://...), they won't be able to monitor exactly what content you exchange there (PayPal account, for example... they can't get access to your account or see your balance), but they'll be able to see that you went there.

Proxy servers don't all require specific configuration in your browser... most places with wireless public networks now use in-line proxies to redirect your traffic and ensure that your PC/laptop doesn't directly access the Internet, but rather reaches sites via their proxy. This is fully trackable, and the fact that you had to authenticate in order to get access to the network ensures that they know you are who you say you are, and they can track anything you do back to you.

I'm not saying you need to be paranoid, but keep that in mind when you use their network.

With a sniffer program an administrator can capture a unsecured password given in the network

every site that is accessed through their gateway is logged on their gateway system ... they will know wherever you go ... whether they choose to do something about it is another issue

your system is identified by your MAC address no matter which IP you get ... passwords are encrypted, so they should be secure, even from the network admins

I believe "NO".

Then also depends on how Administrator configured your Gateway Server.
