Mmm. He must have washed using detergents which means the natural water repellant oils present in his feathers have been removed. He will therefore be soaked through and will require a towel to facilitate plumage drying. Running around partially naked while soaking wet, would have a detrimental effect on his health leading to cold and pneumonia and rheumatism in older age. Mr. Duck is now a very old member of his species having broken all records for duck longevity so he needs to take special care. Only when the feathers are completely dry can the rampant nudism, for which Mr. Duck is so famous, be resumed.

In answer to saskia's question......ducks are female, so dont have 'willies'. Drakes are male and therefore do have 'willies'.
Donald Duck wears a towel after showering so he dosen't leave little wet duckie footprints across the floor, ensuring that his 3 nephews, Hewy, Dewy and Lewy do not slip on the afore said puddles of water. Wot a scandal would ensue if they tried to sue Donald for injury and thus curtailing their international career as Disney child stars!

This is childs cartoon which is to teach children how to do the right and proper things! If he was to get out of the shower and not use a towel to dry off then what would he be teaching the children?!! I read a few of the other answers and they are kind of cute for an adult to read, but the point of Donald Duck cartoon was to get childrens attention and teach them.

Good question! What I am wondering is why when he looses his shirt does he cover his "privates"? If anything he should cover his chest since that's what the shirt his doing. Why when the shirt is pulled off does he feel like showing his "privates" is embarrassing but when his shirt is on it's ok to flash the world? And why does Donald wear only a shirt, Mickey wears only shorts, but Goofy is fully clothed? Goofy is supposed to be the dumb one but it seems to me he's the only one with sense as he's wearing a shirt AND pants (not to mention shoes, a vest, and a hat). I just don't get it!

More to the point, why would he shower? Surely that would do him no good at all since it would be like water off a duck's back!

I think it's because he was still a bit wet from the shower, so put the towel round him to get dry. Simple!

Actually, I think it may have started during the time of the Hayes' Laws governing film making . . . certain actions, states of undress, etc. could be construed as "indescent".
Either that or the Disney animators had a twisted sense of humor.
